Basil! The aromatic herb is a truly royal feast for the palate, nose and senses – and has been for thousands of years. Basil has been considered the „king of herbs“ since ancient times. The royal character of the spice plant is already in its name: „Basil“ comes from the Latin word for king, „basileus“.

The royal herb has long been used for healing purposes in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese folk medicine. Remains of basil have even been found in Egyptian pyramids. And hardly any kitchen is missing it these days.

Last but not least, basil is also known as a sensual love herb – even the ancient Romans appreciated its aphrodisiac effect. For this reason alone, it is particularly tempting to compose a perfume around „Her Majesty Basil“…

The fragrance

Montale Paris dared to do so – and created a „fantastic“ version of the fragrant herb: floral, creamy, aromatic-green… and very cheerful.

Fantastic Basilic blends the scent of delicate basil flowers and freshly cut basil leaves with sweet, luscious notes of juicy kumquat and buttery pear. Meanwhile, exotic frangipani blossoms unfold their floral seductive power – on a sensual, creamy base of powdery musk, benzoin, tonka bean and vetiver from Haiti.
